How I went from Walmart at $15 an hour to $223,690 cleaning RVs

My name's Erik Glowka.

A few years ago I was working at Walmart for $15 an hour.

Then I washed my first RV. The owner paid me $300. That's two full days at the store, for one job.

So I did another one. And another. I learned what to charge, where the RV owners were, and how to get them to call me instead of the next guy.

Last year my business, Coastal Bend RV Wash and Wax in Ingleside on the Bay, Texas, made $223,690.15 in gross profit. It's rated 5.0 on Google from 65 reviews.

Me after a job in Texas, and my business numbers from last year.

This Blueprint is the simple version of how I started. It covers what you need for your first $1,000 and leaves out the rest.

Why RV detailing pays about 5 times more than regular cleaning

Most cleaning work pays around $20 an hour, and you fight for every customer. RVs are different, for two reasons.

RVs are priced by the foot. A normal 30 to 40 ft RV is a $300 to $500 job. One RV takes me 3 to 5 hours, so that works out to about $100 an hour. That's 4 hours of work for $400.

Almost nobody does it. A city often has 20 to 30 car detailers and only 2 or 3 RV detailers. The owners take pride in their rig and can afford to have it cleaned, so the few people who do it well stay booked.

This is for you if...

It's not for you if you want money without doing the work. You still have to go out and wash the RVs. I'll show you exactly how.

3 things that stop most beginners, and what's actually true

1. "There are no customers where I live."

If there are RVs near you, there are customers. Rural areas are some of the best, because there's almost no competition. RV owners are older and they're on Facebook, in local groups and at RV parks, which is exactly where Lesson 5 sends you.

2. "I've never done this. I'll damage someone's RV."

Washing an RV is soap, a soft brush, a rinse and spray wax, in the right order. People damage RVs by using the wrong tools, and there are only 3 things you must never do. Lesson 3 and the checklist cover all of them before you touch your first RV.

3. "I can't afford to start a business."

You need under $500 of gear, most of it from Walmart or Home Depot. You use the customer's water and power, so there's no truck, trailer or water tank to buy. Your first job pays for the gear.

After this, you'll know how to...

Frequently asked questions

I've never cleaned an RV. Can I really do this?

Yes. That's exactly who this is for. Washing an RV is a simple skill: soap, a soft brush, rinse, spray wax. The Blueprint shows you the order and the mistakes to avoid.

Is 14 days realistic?

One RV is a $300 to $500 job, so you only need 2 or 3. The 14-day plan tells you what to do each day to get there. How fast it happens depends on your area and how much work you put in.

Do I have to quit my job?

No. Start on weekends. Most RV owners are happy to have their rig cleaned on a Saturday.

How much money do I need to start?

Under $500 for basic gear, and you can get most of it at Walmart or Home Depot. I'll show you what to buy first and what to wait on until you're getting paid.

Do I need a truck, a trailer or a water tank?

No. You use the customer's water and power. Your car and a ladder are enough to start.

Do I need a website or to spend money on ads?

No. Your first jobs come from free places: Facebook groups, RV parks and people walking up while you work.

Will this work where I live?

If there are RVs near you, yes. Rural areas are some of the best. A city often has 20 to 30 car detailers and only 2 or 3 RV detailers.

Is this a subscription?

No. It's $7 one time, and you keep access for life.

How do I get access?

Right after checkout you get an email with your login. Watch it on your phone, tablet or computer.

What if it's not for me?

Email us within 7 days and you get 100% of your money back, no questions asked. You keep the guides.

You have two choices

Choice one: figure it out alone. You can learn this by trial and error. The usual mistakes cost real money: a gas pressure washer or a stiff brush that damages the RV, a $150 quote on a job worth $400, and weeks of posting in groups without knowing what gets an RV owner to text you back.

Undercharge by $150 on just 3 jobs and you've lost $450. Damage one customer's RV and you've lost a lot more than that.

Choice two: follow what already works. For $7, less than a fast food lunch, you get the exact steps I used to go from $15 an hour to $223,690 in gross profit last year, cut down to what you need for your first $1,000.

And every weekend you wait, there's an RV owner in your town paying someone else $300 to $500 to clean their rig.
